I mean really, what's not to love? If you compare the average price of discount cruises to similar land based vacations, you'll quickly see that cruise deals are incredibly affordable! Finding Cruise Deals You don't want to pay full price for your cruise, do you? I didn't think so.The best advice I can give you is to avoid booking directly from the cruise lines. The one possible exception to this rule is when you're able to book at the last minute. Even in the case of last minute travel, I would recommend that you check on groups before contacting a cruise line directly. So, more about groups. This is where you'll find your best deal. Travel agencies and online travel agents are able to promote great cruise deals because they work directly with the cruise lines. Basically, they buy in bulk and are able to get better cruise deals because of this. Group Cruises Do you have to belong to a group to join a group cruise? Absolutely not! Many of the discount cruises you see advertised in newspapers and online booking sites are cabins that have been booked by a travel agent as a group cruise. The agent then markets these cabins and receives a commission from the cruise line.Often times, a group cruise will be booked for a particular event, such as a family or class reunion. In many cases, these cabins are posted on online booking sites and may be purchased by the general public. An example of this may be found by going to my online booking site and selecting the Groups tab at the top. You'll see a page full of group cruises that have been booked and are available to the general public. Airfare Packages Many cruise lines and travel agents offer packages that include airfare. Usually, you'll do better to book your airfare separately.By doing so, you'll be in control of the airline you use, the dates and times you fly, the layovers involved, and the cost. Be Prepared! The last thing you want to do is to miss your cruise. Believe me, the ship will not wait for you!Many cruise passengers that don't live within driving distance of the departure city choose to arrive the day before they set sail, and stay in a hotel. Not only does this protect them in the case of an airline delay, but it also enables them to begin their vacation free of the stress of airline travel.
