New Hampshire Campgrounds
New Hampshire campgrounds offer vacationers a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you prefer roughing it in a tent or camping in a luxury RV you'll love New Hampshire camping.
If your idea of great fun is spending your days at the ocean and your nights by a campfire, gazing at the stars, you'll love camping in the coastal area of the Granite State.
If you'd rather head to the mountains, to enjoy the incredible serenity of Mother Nature at her best, you'll find many beautiful New Hampshire campgrounds and New Hampshire state parks.
New Hampshire Camping Options There are many different kinds of campers, and a camping option for every taste and budget.
New Hampshire State Parks Scouting groups, families on a tight budget, and true adventurists find the New Hampshire state parks to be ideal for their needs. They are truly spectacular in their simplicity - as close to nature as you can get.
The amenities offered in these NH campgrounds are few. Typically you'll get a campsite with a picnic table and a fire pit. Some have electrical hookups, some don't. Bathroom facilities are humble.
These are the least expensive campsites in the state. Most are operated on a first come, first served basis.
For Profit Campgrounds
If you're not quite ready to really rough it, there are many NH campgrounds that are more expensive than the New Hampshire state parks but that offer more amenities.
Tent and RV sites are available with electricity and bathroom facilities with showers. Depending on your preferences, you can find a campground with great features such as pool, jacuzzi, recreation hall, sports areas (i.e., basketball court, tennis court), camp store, and/or entertainment.
Seasonal Sites Many New Hampshire campgrounds offer seasonal sites, which are available for the full camping season. This appeals to many families that own campers or RVs but prefer to be stationary.
This is a popular New Hampshire camping option because it provides families with an affordable vacation home. Rather than plan a trip, pack up the camper, pull it to a campground, and set it up, seasonal camping offers vacationers to just pack their bags and go.
Site Ownership There are also condo campgrounds, which offer site ownership. When my husband and I purchased an RV many years ago, this choice was very appealing to us, and we bought a site in a condo campground.
We own the land that our trailer is on, and have built a large screen porch onto the RV. The condo fees, taxes, and maintenance costs are low, and we have a great vacation home with 2 bedrooms, a microwave, shower, and family room. It's perfect for us.
The campground we own in, Arcadia Campground in Moultonborough, is situated on Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in New Hampshire, and we own a dock for our boat. Amenities here include a large beach, recreation hall, tennis courts, a basketball court, a softball field, horseshoes, vollyball, and a playground.
Camping, an Affordable VacationSo now you have no excuse to forgo a summer vacation. Even for those on a tight budget, NH camping is a great way to spend time with your friends and loved ones without breaking the bank. Best of all, the fresh mountain air, abundant forests, spectacular scenery, and clear, star-studded evening skies are free!
